Customer Service Clerk III


Welcome to the Customer Service Clerk position for the City of Chesapeake Police Department!
The Police Department is looking for a service oriented customer service clerk who enjoys processing requests and providing exceptional customer service, both to internal and external customers.

Typical responsibilities of the Customer Service Clerk:
  • Customer Service Clerk maintains Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) files, Motion for Discovery Files, Subpoena Duces Tecums, and video/audio evidence files: primarily tasked with researching, locating, reviewing, and copying audio files to required media formats in compliance with established regulations.
  • May be requested or subpoenaed to testify in criminal, civil and administrative proceedings. Maintains knowledge base of current FOIA laws and policies.
  • Attends in-service training and technical or professional classes, seminars, or conferences to improve technical or professional skills.
  • Conducts administrative functions such as recording statistical information, compiling reports, performing specialized studies, coordinating with other agencies or the public, and maintaining forms.
  • Prepares records for viewing by the defense, FOIA requests, City Attorney's Office, guardian ad litem and public requests.
  • Performs administrative duties such as monitoring expenses, supplies and equipment, requisitioning materials or equipment, and assisting others with work related recordings.

Performs routine office tasks, such as typing, filing, faxing, phoning, copying and other duties as assigned.
